Royal Thai Chronicle, May 2024
Welcome to the Royal Thai Chronicle
We know that inspiration comes from many places–that is why we want to take you along our adventure and share our people, our culture, our process and more.
In this issue, we celebrate the artistry that lies beneath your feet. From our rich heritage of craftsmanship to the innovative designs gracing the world's finest hotels, we explore the transformative power of carpets.
cARPETS AS ARTISTIC MASTERPIECES
Royal Thai has always understood the power of floorspace. From intricate hand-tufting to luxurious Axminster weaves, our carpets are more than just coverings – they are canvases for artistic expression, sometimes that last for decades.
The grandeur of 80%Wool 20% Nylon Axminster Tile is unmistakably expressed in its presence at the Grand Ballroom, Dusit Thani Hua Hin in Thailand. This architectural gem, a fusion of classic aesthetics and Thai interior design, mirrors the ceiling's design with its meticulous detailing. A living testament to the Thai Royal Family's rich history, it emanates an enduring elegance that motivates our contemporary collections.
the design shift
The hospitality industry is embracing carpets as more than functional elements. They've become integral parts of a hotel's mood and identity.
Take a look at Circa Resort & Casino, Las Vegas's first adults-only casino-resort. The AAA Four Diamond Circa pays homage to Vegas’ Golden Era through vintage design, old-school hospitality and nods to the city’s history.
The property's suites, all of which are outfitted with Royal Thai Axminster carpet, complement the velvety blue and decadent gold color palette of the rooms.
PROJECT SPOTLIGHT: THE JAY HOTEL, SAN FRANCISCO
Our recent collaboration with the design firm Avroko resulted in a breathtaking property featuring Royal Thai lobby, meeting room, public space, corridor, and guest room carpets.
The property was inspired by San Francisco resident and sculptor Ruth Asawa, and chic hotel lobby lounges of the past. The inspiration comes together to create an environment with contemporary, California-influenced interiors with bespoke amenities.
The Jay Hotel was a finalist in multiple categories in the 2024 HD Project Awards.
